Guidelines

Classes:

Classes begin in September and run through May.

Registration is open all year EXCEPT after February 1st, due to recital conflicts (June 15 th registration begins the next dance season).

There is a summer break, unless otherwise indicated by your school. Schools will follow the county school schedule, so please be aware of the county you are in and their schedule for Fall Break, Spring Break, Christmas Break, and Thanksgiving Break. Classes consist of 45 minutes of dance instruction weekly; 1/2  of TAP and 1/2  of BALLET.

If a class consists of two students for two months, classes will be terminated.  You will be notified of any changes prior to doing so.  Each class consists of a maximum of ten dancers, less depending on the dance space.

Some schools allow for multiple classes to be held.  If your school only allows for one dance class and that class if full, your dancer can be placed on a waiting list.  Should your preschool be closed or cancel a dance class for ANY reason – weather, holidays, field trips, graduation day, pictures, etc.- we are not responsible for a make-up class.  Should we cancel a class for any reason; a refund will be given if the class cannot be rescheduled. Please see the back of your payment booklet or our website, under Calendar for our holidays.

If your dancer comes to school after class has started, you will need to bring them to dance class. We can not stop class to see if your dancer might show up or to get a dancer.

If tuition has not been paid by the 15th of the month your dancer will NOT be pulled for class. If you need to make payment arrangements please contact Melissa Garcia at dancinglittlestarstn@gmail.com or (904)514-4461.

Recital costumes are delivered the first week in May, all fees should be paid before costumes can be delivered. If your account isn’t paid, the costume will not be delivered until the fees are paid.

*Due to COVID-19 we will no longer be giving out sweet treats to dancers.

Dance Attire:

Students will need the following for dance class each week: Dancers need both tap and ballet shoes.  Shoes can be purchased on our website, PAYLESS SHOES (take advantage of their buy one get one half off) and dance items can be purchased at TARGET, AMAZON, WAL-MART or any dance wear store.  DLS does not require a certain type, brand name, nor color of shoe(s) or dance wear.  Should dance wear not be purchased, your dancer is to wear comfortable gym type clothing on dance day to allow for maximum mobility (no dresses).   Inquire about items that have been donated to DLS and need a dancer to wear them.  Your dancers name is to be written on each of their items.  If dance class is in the morning and your dancer does not wear a uniform, please have your dancer dressed for their dance class. To allow more dance time, we do NOT allow tights in dance class – unless your dancer arrives to school in tights (socks can be included to wear with their tap shoes). If your child will not be changing into dance attire, please have “gym type” clothing on for maximum mobility.   **A small portion of dance class time is used to dress for class.  By wearing less items on dance day, enables your child to receive more dance time and less changing of the clothes time.

We will not put tights on a dancer (tights take up too much dance time to put on 10 dancers).  Please have your child wear socks on dance day.  Some of the children “dress-out” for dance class, and some do not.

**PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PLACE YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN HIS/HER DANCE SHOES!

Tuition:

REFUNDS: No refunds will be given when dancer is withdrawal mid-month. Due to the cost associated with a recital, the recital fee is non-refundable.

**It is your responsibility to remove your CC information from the portal when withdrawing your child mid-year. There will be no further tuition payments taken out after May, unless you sign up for more classes.

Monthly tuition is due by the 1st of each month and made directly to DLS via our website.  DO NOT SEND DANCE TUITION TO YOUR PRESCHOOL!  Neither your school, nor your dance instructors are allowed to take your tuition payment.  Tuition is based on our an annual dance season, August thru May.  We break tuition into monthly payments for your convenience.  Tuition is not prorated and tuition is not rfunded if the month has started. a   On-line payments are accepted on our website at www.dancinglittlestarstn.com  Monthly payments sent from your financial institution, should have your dancers full name indicated in the account section in order for proper crediting. If paying by personal check, please indicate your dancers name in the memo portion.  Tuition is based on an annual fee and not dependent on the classes per month.

LATE FEE:  If payment is not received by the 1st of each month, then a late fee of $10.00 will need to be included with your late payment.  Late fee will be requested if not paid during that current month of being late.

RETURNED CHECKS  There is a return check charge of $20.00 on all items returned.  If a second check is returned, all future payments must be made in the form of cash, money order or credit card.

NON-PAYMENTS:  Should your account become delinquent and you have failed to contact Melissa Garcia to make arrangements for payment, your child is subject to termination from our program.  Any unpaid account will be reported to our collection agency.  DLS will not be responsible for any legal or other charges incurred in an attempt to collect debt. Please don’t get upset with us when we request it from you, we as a company are charged if we pay our bills late.

We accept payments on-line for tuition and fees using your credit card. Simply click on the parent portal button on the top right of screen. We no longer accept personal checks. Bill Payer Checks from your Bank can be mailed to our business office:    Dancing Little Stars TN P.O. Box 10123 Murfreesboro, TN 37129. Please include your dancers name and school with the payment.

DO NOT  TAKE YOUR TUITION PAYMENTS TO YOUR CHILD’S PRESCHOOL AND/OR GIVE TO THE DANCE TEACHER! PLEASE  PAY IT THRU OUR WEBSITE. Tuition is based on a  dance season (NOT a monthly tuition); the annual fee is broken down into monthly payments for your convenience, tuition is not prorated.  There are 2 snow days worked into the dance season.  If more than 2 days per dance season are missed due to weather, we will either make-up the dance class or prorate your tuition.

**Should your account become delinquent and you have failed to contact Melissa Garcia (904) 514-4461 to make arrangements for payment, your child is subject to termination from our program.  If your account has not been paid from the previous month your dancer will not be allowed to dance until the balance has been paid in full. When the balance is paid in full the dancer will be allowed to participate but if the account becomes delinquent a second month enrollment will be terminated. Any unpaid accounts will be reported to our collection agency.

Parent Observation:

We do not send out progress reports for dance class; however, you are welcome to come and observe dance class at any time.  We ask that if you are going to come and watch: that you do not let your child know you are there until after dance class, and that none of the children can see you.  Please peek from the other room, through the window or the door.  We have found, through experience, that when parents come into the room to watch class, the children (sometimes yours, and sometimes someone else’s) do not dance or do not dance to their full potential.  This can be disruptive to the dance instruction.  For security purposes, only DLS employees may help the children get dressed or use the restroom.

Withdrawal:

Notification of dancer withdrawal from class must be in writing. Your school is not responsible for informing us of the status of your dancer.  You may not “hold” your dancer out of class one month and then include your dancer the next month.  We do not “hold” spots, unless prior approval by DLS. Tuition is non-refundable after classes have begun in the month.

Special Note:

Dancing Little Stars reserves the right to terminate any student’s enrollment in dance class at any time, for any reason.  A parent or guardian may withdrawal their child from dance class at anytime, for any reason. Please note, that tuition will not be refunded after the first month of dance, if a dancer is withdrawn mid-month.  Dancing Little Stars reserves the right to use group or individual photos taken at the dance recital of your dancer to include, but not limited to our program promotions, displays and material.

Unless you specifically note otherwise, we may use photos of your child for our website, social media outlets and school posters. It is your responsibility to notify Melissa Garcia if you do not want your child’s photo used in this way. If you do not allow the use of your child’s photo, this disqualifies them from ‘dancer of the month’, recital videos and photos etc..

We make every attempt to discuss and correct any problem that may arise concerning a dancer’s behavior during dance classes.  However, DANCING LITTLE STARS reserves the right to terminate any dancer’s enrollment for any reason and at any time.  A parent/ guardian may withdraw, with notice, for any reason and at any time.  DANCING LITTLE STARS reserves the right to use individual/group photographs of your dancer to include, but not limited to our program promotions, displays and training material.  Names will not be indicated.
